Hey there, early Arc Hub supporters! First off, we would like to wish you a Happy New Year and thank you greatly for all of your support and patience.
Over the past couple of months our team has been hard at work trying to get your Hub to you as quickly as possible. During this process however, we have encountered a couple of hurdles that we are tirelessly working on overcoming.
Initially we set out with a late January/early February ship date in mind, but it is currently looking like this will be pushed back to the end of March for reasons beyond our control. Again, we want to give our sincerest of thanks for your continued patience and loyalty and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Between USB-C technology still being so new and Chinese New Year completely halting production for a straight month, unfortunately we cannot deliver on our original timeline. We have made a lot of headway since pre-orders went live the 25th of October but there have also been a couple of setbacks and we want to get you up to speed on every step we’ve taken in the process to get to where we are today.
First of all, USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 is extremely new technology and in order to produce a seamless and consistent device across all platforms for our users, strict testing has been performed on every available USB-C compatible device. As this is a new standard in computing, new computers, tablets and phones are coming out daily using this new technology. Again, in order to develop and deliver the best possible USB-C adapter, we found it in best interest of both parties to test each device individually with the Arc Hub for compatibility. As you can imagine, doing full benchmark tests on every individual device can be a time-consuming and tedious task but our team has done its very best to do so in a timely and thorough manner.
Fortunately, after all our testing, we are pleased to inform our Windows users that besides passthrough charging, we are fully compatible across all Windows laptops and devices! However, despite passthrough charging not currently being available, we are looking into a solution for this. This could soon change.
Apple users, you have nothing to worry about- Arc Hub is compatible with all MacOS devices. However there is one restriction. Through our testing we found that using dual displays on a Mac will result in both monitors displaying the same extended screen. This is because Apple has left out the protocol to allow two unique video outputs using the USB-C channel. Until Apple decides to add this protocol to MacOS via an update, dual extended displays using USB-C technology is disabled for Mac users.
While our testing did take up some time, the biggest factor of this delay is Chinese New Year. During this time all factories and shipping companies in China shut down for an entire month. Not only does this halt the production of the Arc Hubs, but it also prevents any already produced devices from leaving the warehouse. This means that the rest of manufacturing and exporting will resume in late February/early March. Upon completion, batches of orders will be shipped to our warehouse here in California, where we will begin boxing up and shipping out all the orders. As promised, we will ship out the Hubs in the order that the purchase was placed, with October orders shipping first.
We want to assure you that you will be getting the best on the market today in USB-C adapters. When it comes to working with new technology such as USB-C and Thunderbolt 3, time to test and perfect is key. Our tireless efforts in pursuit of perfecting the all-in-one hub will not let you down. We are sure you will be pleased with the final result.
